Plant Physiology, Biochemistry and Post Harvest Technology

Research programmes on

   (i)  production physiology and biochemistry; and

(ii) post harvest technology and byproduct utilization

are carried out as a part of the division of Plant physiology,   biochemistry and PHT.

The physiological aspects of production as well as stress physiology of palms and cocoa were studied in detail.  Biochemical aspects of coconut oil, and arecanut were the objectives of some of the concluded projects.

Many gadgets for on-farm operations as well as for processing were developed that include different types of dryers, water harvesting and irrigation systems, processing tools and protocols.
